Finding the Super in Every Moment: How OPPO Brings Different Ways of Seeing to Life

SHENZHEN - At OPPO, we have always believed that the tools to capture and share the beauty of the world should not just be a privilege for the few, but something available to all. While OPPO products like the Find and Reno smartphone series constantly push the boundaries of mobile productivity and creative expression, OPPO also hosts the annual OPPO Photography Awards to encourage creators around the world to record everyday life and express the world the way they see it, according to the official website of OPPO.

Centered around the theme "Super Every Moment," this year's OPPO Photography Awards invited people from all corners of the globe to pick up their phones and capture one-of-a-kind moments that transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. From everyday photography enthusiasts to seasoned professionals, the competition has supported the global creative community at every step of the journey, empowering anyone to share their stories and perspectives as part of OPPO's call to Make Your Moment.

Finding Inspiration Through Community and Everyday Life

For Indonesian creator Randy Deandre Pangera, his journey with OPPO began back in his university days as an OPPO Campus Ambassador, a path that eventually led him to become an OPPO Global Product Ambassador today. Since first getting behind the lens in high school, Randy is rarely seen without his camera. He describes his style as "Full of color. And never just one color," while being driven by a constant desire to explore new possibilities.

This spirit of exploration makes the OPPO Reno series his ideal creative companion. Combining exceptional image quality with a rich suite of creative tools, the Reno series gives young users like Randy everything they need to experiment freely, bring their ideas to life, and continually expand their creative horizons.

Weekend mornings are when Randy likes to wander, observe, and look for moments worth capturing. During a recent walk through a traditional market, he noticed a local street vendor surrounded by packs of crackers hanging from the ceiling—a playful scene he later titled "Grandma with Cracker Hair."

Rather than immediately pressing the shutter, Randy first explained why he wanted to take the vendor's photo. A smile and a brief conversation helped earn her trust and permission, turning the encounter itself into part of the story. The discreet, unobtrusive nature of the OPPO Reno16 5G also helped preserve the spontaneity of the moment. "With the OPPO Reno16, it's very easy for me to get the moments I want, in a way that always pops out," he shares.

But the value that OPPO provides for Randy is more than just powerful hardware and standout images, it's about a deep community connection. OPPO Meetups—offline gatherings where local members connect and share inspiration in person—have become something he regularly looks forward to. "No OPPO Meetup ever comes with a map," he says, "so every time, it's a new surprise."

Beyond the excitement of new locations, each Meetup offers themed workshops, hands-on learning, and the chance to share with other creators. "It's the lessons each meetup leaves behind that make a mark. Each one represents a new way to create. A new way to see," he adds.

By bringing together people who share the same curiosity and passion for creation, OPPO Meetups open up new ideas and fresh perspectives. Randy, meanwhile, sees photography as less about chasing perfection and more "a form of meditation for ourselves." With inspiration from the community and Reno by his side, he continues to find stories in the overlooked corners of everyday life.

Empowering Creators to Share Their World

The same sense of creative freedom extends beyond photography to video storytellers. In April this year, OPPO and Discovery launched the Filmmaker Accelerator, offering emerging filmmakers mentorship opportunities spanning the entire filmmaker journey—from story creation and filming, through to post-production. It was through this initiative that Italian creator Filippo Forner headed to Naples to shoot a documentary about the historic city using only an OPPO Find X9 Ultra.

As a former alpine skier and self-proclaimed sports fanatic, Filippo turned his lens toward football, documenting how the beautiful game thrives on local streets, docksides, and neighborhood pitches. Filippo was struck by just how much technology OPPO has packed into the Find X9 Ultra, noting in particular that accessing professional-level features like 8K recording and Log color profiles on a phone dramatically lowers the barrier to entry for creative expression, especially for people who are just starting out.

Beyond the professional camera specs, the user experience also proved just as vital to Filippo's creative process. "I really like the layout of the camera and how all the parameters are well organized inside the app," he added.

Switching from bulky camera gear to a 200-gram smartphone fundamentally reshaped both his creative workflow and his approach as a filmmaker. According to Filippo, the phone's portability allowed him to work more efficiently, and the compact size made spontaneous shooting while navigating the crowded streets and narrow alleys of Naples feel effortless. More importantly, documentary filmmaking relies heavily on human connection, and unlike the camera-shy reactions often triggered by large professional rigs, people felt far more relaxed and natural in front of the OPPO phone.

Despite the significantly smaller size of the camera, the results of the documentary spoke for themselves. "A lot of people were surprised that the whole video was shot just with a phone," Filippo shared, pointing to just how accessible professional visual storytelling has become with the right phone.

But for Filippo, the experience was about much more than the final footage. Through this project, he was able to immerse himself in a vivid cross-section of Italian culture, exploring a city he had never truly known before. Between the scenes, conversations with locals revealed unexpected moments along the way, making this journey not merely a record on film, but an unforgettable human experience.

Trusted by Professionals

Since beginning partnerships with some of the biggest pioneers in camera equipment and visual storytelling like Hasselblad and Discovery, OPPO has redefined what is possible on a mobile camera time and time again. This dedication to constantly pushing the boundaries has not only won over everyday creators but also earned the trust of professionals at the top of their field.

For Hasselblad Master Tina Signesdottir Hult, working with the OPPO Find X9 Ultra became a journey of discovery in its own right. After questioning whether she could create "the same sense of intimacy, sensitivity, and depth" that she looks for when working with a professional camera, she was surprised by how well the phone preserved subtle transitions between light and shadow, as well as tonal depth and color. At the same time, the option to switch between multiple focal lengths with just a quick swipe of the screen opened up new possibilities in intimacy and composition. The experience even led her to reconsider some of her own assumptions about what a professional photographic tool needs to be. "It felt less like a phone and more like a new photographic instrument," she reflected—one that made professional creativity feel remarkably accessible.

To see Tina's journey with the Find X9 Ultra in action, one needs to look no further than the cover poster for this year's OPPO Photography Awards. Set against the harsh winter of Norway where she grew up, the breathtaking shot reveals snow-capped peaks, a winding coastline, and a serene, timeless blue stretching between sea and sky. "Under these conditions, I am stunned by the technical quality of the photos taken by the camera on this mobile," she shared.

Just as Filippo documented the passion of Italian football living on every street corner of Naples, and Randy honed his craft through OPPO Meetups, Tina's story with OPPO is one written in a genuine love for visual storytelling. It's a love that transcends professional boundaries, where every press of the shutter captures something personal and meaningful hiding in plain sight. This is the belief at the heart of Super Every Moment and the OPPO Photography Awards—that behind each everyday moment is a timeless masterpiece waiting to be uncovered, captured, and shared.
