Huawei Microwave ODU XMC-3E Wins the iF and Red Dot Awards

CHENGDU - 'Red Dot Design Award' and 'iF Design Award' recently announced their winners for 2021. Huawei's microwave ODU XMC-3E took home both of the prestigious awards for its simple design, excellent environment adaptability, and quick installation. This highlights the industry's recognition of Huawei's design and the company's position in the microwave products market, according to the official website of Huawei.

Huawei microwave delivers ultra-broadband, simplified solutions. The XMC-3E strives for a new level of excellence with its sleek appearance alongside simple installation and maintenance.

Released in June 2021, the ODU XMC-3E delivers:

• Doubled channel bandwidth: The XMC-3E supports 112 MHz channel spacing so a single ODU can deliver double the bandwidth of previous ODU models.
• Highest-order modulation: The XMC-3E improves the modulation scheme from 2KQAM to 4KQAM, and can also support 8KQAM modulation under certain conditions, facilitating even larger transmission bandwidth.
• Higher transmit power: Compared with older high-power ODUs, the XMC-3E delivers even higher transmit power. This reduces antenna diameters, needing less installation space and fewer load bearing requirements, ultimately saving lease costs.

As mentioned in the official statements of the two awards, Huawei's latest XMC-3E boasts an extraordinary performance of over-the-air transmission and communication. Hidden heat sink fins and other functional blocks are optimally arranged in a highly compact design. This helps provide a high level of performance while keeping the dimensions small enough to avoid obtrusiveness in a variety of environments. Ergonomic holders and quick-lock mounting brackets ensure effortless lifting, as well as safe, efficient deployment and maintenance.

About the Awards

The 'Red Dot Design Award' and 'iF Design Award' of Germany are among the world's top three design awards.

Since its establishment in 1953, the 'iF Design Award' has been recognized as a sign of good design. The judges include nearly 60 renowned experts from more than 20 countries and, through a set of rigorous criteria and procedures, evaluate outstanding products from the dimensions of design, experience, innovation, and many other areas.

The 'Red Dot Design Award' was established by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, the most prestigious German design association in Europe, in Essen, Germany in 1955. It is the most authoritative design award in the global industrial design industry. The award is known for its strict selection criteria. The entries must have innovative features that differ themselves from other similar products and represent the world's highest industrial design level in the field.
