Huawei: Collaborating on Digital Infrastructure Innovation for an Intelligent World 2030

DÜSSELDORF - Huawei's Eco-Connect Europe 2021 was held online and on site in five countries from October 28 to 29. Keeping with the event's theme of "Digital and Green, Transition to Value", speakers presented on new technological applications designed to help industry customers and partners navigate the changes Huawei predicts the global economy will soon face, according to the official website of Huawei.

Huawei's Executive Director of the Board and Chairman of the ICT Infrastructure Managing Board David Wang spoke at length about the company's recently released Intelligent World 2030 report and what it means for Europe.

The report itself looks at digital infrastructure and smart devices through the lens of both qualitative assessment and quantitative projection to, as David Wang said, "help industries seek new opportunities and jointly create value with Huawei."

David Wang emphasized that in the coming decade it will be critical for Europe to build solid digital infrastructure and that Huawei is committed to being the partner Europe needs. He said, "Europe's success will be inseparable from non-stop innovation in digital infrastructure."

"At the same time, Huawei's vision drives us to continuously innovate in digital infrastructure," said David Wang. "We would like to help Europe roll out secure, reliable, sustainable, and independent infrastructure."

He specifically pointed to the five areas where Huawei's innovation can create value for Europe – hardware, cloud services, AI, digital power, and software ecosystems.

David Wang continued, "Each and every R&D employee at Huawei lives and breathes innovation. No matter what comes our way, innovation will remain constant. Innovation at Huawei, at its core, drives industry development and creates value for customers and the entire value chain."

Huawei's Western Europe Network Deputy Director Christophe Batiard and Huawei Deutschland Solution Sales IT Director Sascha Oehl also spoke on some of Huawei's leading solutions for the European market, including the company's AirEngine campus Wi-Fi 6E AP, cross-region computing scheduling network solution, deterministic IP network solution, OptiXtrans hybrid OTN, OptiXsense optical sensing, OceanProtect All-Flash backup storage, and OceanStor Pacific distributed storage.

Christophe Batiard and Sascha Oehl further stressed Huawei's commitment to the future, "To better meet customer needs and stay ahead in the product domain, Huawei has invested 720 billion Chinese yuan in Research and Development (R&D) over the past decade. In 2020 alone, its R&D investment reached an astonishing 141.9 billion Chinese yuan. And Huawei's strategy is to continue to invest over 10% of revenue in R&D annually, looking ahead."

François Kruta, Co-founder and CEO of Ubudu, a location & distance tracking solution provider, also shared his experience in partnering with Huawei on digital transformation: "Huawei's efficient and stable Wi-Fi network architecture helps Ubudu to reduce total investment cost for customers."

Huawei's VP of WEU Enterprise Services Demetri Rico then presented on Huawei's plans to innovate with partners to create a healthy ecosystem. "In the future, Huawei will work with customers and partners to carry out joint innovations around industry digitalization. Through field tests and verification in OpenLabs, Huawei will explore the digital transformation of various industries and jointly innovate some industry solutions to help more European enterprises enjoy the convenience of digitalization."

At the end of his speech, David Wang said, "Europe continues to be a beacon for the principles of: openness, co-creation, and sharing. We eagerly look to share value with our customers and partners in this environment."
