Exploring Potential for Location-based Technologies in Health and Care

LONDON - The South East Health Technologies Alliance (SEHTA), in partnership with the ICT Knowledge Transfer Network, are organizing an event on February 8 that looks at location-based technologies in health and care services.
The breadth of current location-based applications includes locating and monitoring of vulnerable individuals, lone-worker security tracking, locating valuable assets and personnel, and hand-washing compliance systems.
Were hosting this event to raise awareness of the potential for location-based technologies in health and care as well as exploring several of the opportunities and challenges, says Dr David Parry, CEO of SEHTA.
We will be looking at technologies that have been developed specially for the purpose of health and social care, and will also be focusing on existing technologies from other sectors that may also be adapted for use in health and social care. We believe there is considerable potential for innovation in this field to fulfill unmet need in the health and care sectors.
This free-to-attend event will explore location-based technologies from several perspectives, including showcasing existing and planned implementations of location-based services in health and care, discussing the potential for innovation, looking at examples of existing technologies from other industries that may transfer well to the health and care sectors, showcasing promising new technologies and services, and exploring the ethics and legal issues of tracking vulnerable people.
