Huawei Joins Partners in AIOps Autonomous Service Assurance Catalyst

SHENZHEN - Huawei said results of the AIOps Autonomous Service Assurance Catalyst, a joint innovation program it is working in with leading Communications Service Providers (CSPs) and partners, have been presented at the TM Forum Catalyst Digital Showcase (CDS) in July, the first to be held totally online, a press release by the company stated. The AIOps Autonomous Service Assurance Catalyst explores how AI can drive closed-loop service assurance in network services and build foundations for autonomous networks and AIOps service management processes.

The Catalyst aims to prove best practices to deploy and operate AI in complex CSPs operations environments to contribute to the TM Forum AIOps Collaboration initiative.

Autonomous and intelligent operations are required to meet growing network speed, quality and capacity requirements, as well as to manage increasing infrastructure complexity and optimize operational costs. AI is the enabling force to make this a reality. The project combines concrete AI-based use cases covering vital aspects of the service assurance process, including:

•  Prediction of potential faults and prevention of impacts on business services
•  Prevention of service degradation through optimal compute resource allocation
•  Diagnosis and identification of root causes behind faults and bad customer experience
•  Fault-fix automation
•  Optimization of the energy footprint of virtualized network functions (VNFs) while maintaining service-level objectives
•  Automated feedback loop to continuously improve the service assurance process.

The tangible and measurable business benefits generated by all these use cases together are impressive and intersect with the main CSP business drivers: improved customer experience, better quality, optimized costs, and enhanced business performance.

“By participating in the TM Forum AIOps Autonomous Service Assurance Catalyst project with our trusted technology partner, HKT aims to empower Digital Transformation and evolve a digital ecosystem to champion a myriad of exciting New Generation services including 5G, OTT Apps and financial services,” said Michael Yue, A/SVP, Engineering, HKT. “The goal is to strengthen customer experience assurance, enhance customer retention and increase customer engagement to grow business opportunities in the AI era and sustain market leadership. Inspiration from TM Forum frameworks and assets facilitates formulation of strategic technology and innovative directives to provide a better user experience for customers.”

“The AI-driven Wireless Network Fault Prediction solution being developed by Smart and Huawei locates where future errors may arise,” said Hans Alvarez, VP - Service Operations Center, Smart Communications, Inc. “This can significantly help operators anticipate issues by identifying failures in the BTS infrastructure in advance to stay ahead of potential KPI degradation and trigger preventive actions for engineers to mitigate risks and improve overall O&M efficiency.”

"By joining TM Forum programs, Huawei continues to invest in digital technology to build future autonomous networks with Huawei AI-powered solutions like HUAWEI SmartCare® and AUTIN, and at the same time create industry standards and new best practices,” said Li Yuxin, Managing Director, Huawei Consulting & System Integration Marketing & Solution Dept. “This will enable Communications Service Providers (CSPs) to accelerate O&M and digital operations transformation through building an agile & open digital platform, supplemented with a new model of ecosystem and operations. Our ongoing cooperation with TM Forum, CSPs and industry partners inspires us to speed our development work.”

“Catalyst projects showcase the power of collaboration, bringing together a wide range of companies, industries and ecosystems not only in telecom but also in IoT, smart cities, smart energy, industrial manufacturing and more,” said John Gillam, Chief Digital Officer, TM Forum. “Championed by the world’s largest service providers, Catalyst projects accelerate innovation, prove the application of new technologies, validate standards and make many other valuable contributions to our industry.”
