Telstra and Ericsson Achieve Trial World’s First EACC rApp on Live Network

• Telstra trials Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform (EIAP), its Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) solution, in its commercial network
• This trial also showcased the world first use of the Ericsson Automated Configuration Consistency (EACC) rApp in a live commercial network
• This trial demonstrates Telstra’s commitment to evaluating technologies that will support its autonomous network ambitions

STOCKHOLM - Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) and Telstra announced the successful trial deployment of Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform (EIAP) in Telstra’s commercial network. EIAP is Ericsson’s Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) platform, which enabled the world first rApp deployment of Ericsson Automated Configuration Consistency (EACC), a press release stated by Ericsson.

The EACC rApp enables users to uncover and correct baseline Configuration Management consistency errors in the RAN network with the ability to rollback changes if KPIs are degraded. The introduction of EACC underscores Ericsson’s and Telstra’s commitment to innovation and operational efficiency.

Consumers today expect more data, with faster speeds and lower latency for enabling richer experiences with high resiliency and reliability. EIAP is a platform which enables advanced automation and AI-driven optimizations while abstracting the complexities of a modern network and enabling improved network performance. Through the platform’s capabilities a CSP can deliver more consistent, high-quality service experience across an entire network, enabling users to enjoy seamless streaming, browsing, and gaming with minimal delays.

Ericsson is enabling an open ecosystem attached to the EIAP, providing key assets, services and infrastructure that enables rApp developers to use the platform to develop high-value automation applications. It has led to the new, but rapidly expanding rApp ecosystem that will further enhance network capabilities across various domains, including Network Evolution, Deployment, Optimization, and Healing with automation and AI as a foundation.

This trial has allowed Telstra to use tools and resources, such as the open Software Development Kit (SDK) and Developer Portal, available through its membership of this open ecosystem, to develop and deploy rApps in its own commercial network. The EACC deployment makes Telstra one of the earliest CSPs to launch an rApp live on a commercial network globally on EIAP, an illustration of its commitment to industry leadership and early adoption of cutting-edge technologies. This aligns with Telstra’s goal of moving toward an intent driven network that delivers self-optimization, self-healing and self-assurance with minimal human intervention.

This milestone demonstrates Ericsson’s continued leadership in network innovation and our commitment to supporting CSP’s in delivering exceptional connectivity experiences to their customers.

Sri Amirthalingam, Telstra Network Engineering Executive said: “Our collaboration with Ericsson in the trial deployment of the Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform in our commercial network is another example of our ongoing technology leadership and pursuit of better experiences for our customers, from how they interact with us to the quality of the network services we provide.Using an rApp to ensure that our desired network configuration is maintained demonstrates how we can provide a more consistent experience across our entire network. This is one more step on Telstra’s autonomous network journey, which will see us introduce autonomous processes across many of our network management functions to simplify operations, improve network resource utilization and uplift customer experience. “

Emilio Romeo, Head of Ericsson, Australia, and New Zealand says, "The trial deployment of the Ericsson Intelligent Automation Platform (EIAP) in Telstra's network represents a significant milestone.By integrating advanced AI and machine learning capabilities, EIAP will enable CSP’s to deliver superior network performance, enhanced automation, and improved operational efficiency. This trial deployment marks an important step toward the future of autonomous networks, reinforcing our shared commitment to delivering seamless, reliable experiences for end users.”
