Jordan News Agency (Petra) and ‘Abu-Ghazaleh Global Digital’ Sign Memorandum of Understanding

AMMAN - Under the patronage of HE Dr. Mohammad Momani, Minister of Government Communications and officialSpokesperson, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Jordan News Agency (Petra) and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global Digital (TAG.GD), to enhance cooperation and partnership in various fields.
In this regard, Dr. Zaid Nawaiseh, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Government Communication, on behalf of Minister Momani, praised the national role played by TAG.GD in supporting national institutions, emphasizing that signing such a memorandum is a testament to this contribution.
He went on to state that this memorandum focuses on the exchange of training opportunities, particularly in the digital field, at a time when staying up-to-date with the latest developments in communication tools has become an absolute necessity. He underscored that timeliness, speed, and accuracy have become key factors in the modern communication process and in influencing public opinion; noting that Petra is a distinguished national media institution committed to keeping up with modern developments by utilizing advanced communication tools to enhance its news coverage and diverse media products, ultimately serving the Jordanian media landscape.
This requires the provision of ongoing training and capacity building, as well as enabling resources to empower its workforce to perform their duties with efficiency and excellence, he said.
Dr. Nawaiseh also emphasized the Ministry's deep appreciation for the significant role played by TAG.GD at the local, regional, and global levels. He reiterated that the Ministry is committed to collaborating with all national institutions to strengthen the media sector, driven by a firm commitment to carry out its responsibilities, with the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct and responsibility.
For his part, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh emphasized the significant role of the Jordanian media in general, and Petra News Agency in particular, in highlighting Jordan’s national causes, emphasizing the country’s achievements, and uncovering shortcomings wherever they may exist. He pointed out that TAG.GD pays great attention to media not only in Jordan, but also in countries where all its 100+ offices exist, recognizing its crucial role in reporting events that impact the society, and its close connection to the economy and sustainable development.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his pride in the long-standing cooperation with the Jordan News Agency (Petra), reiteratingTAG.GD’s commitment to utilizing its professional and media capabilities in line with the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah IIon enhancing the role of the private sector to carry out their corporate social responsibility, while safeguarding the country’s and citizens' higher interests.
He also noted that the TAG.GD continuously launches media-related initiatives that keep pace with current developments, through a large media department, which includes a digital radio and television network, in addition to three specialized news agencies focusing on intellectual property, technology, education, along with other key media initiatives.
The MoU, signed by Petra’s Director-General, Ms. Fayrouz Mubaideen, and Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, TAG.GD founder and chairman, aims to activate cooperation in the provision of services of mutual interest, exchange training expertise in media-related fields, and benefit from educational and training scholarships offered by Petra and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global Digital University (TAGGDU) tailored to the needs of both sides.
Additionally, the agreement includes provisions for resource sharing, access to specialized lecturers, news services, and facilitating the purchase of electronic devices manufactured by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh for Technology, a member of TAG.GD.
The Memorandum also aims to cooperate in preserving the News Agency’s heritage and national history, including its archived images and historically used tools and gadgets, in addition to the establishment of an exhibition hall at Petra’s headquarters to permanently display these items.
