LONDON - The new HTC Desire HD is the 'bigger brother' to the best selling HTC Desire, the new HD edition offers a larger screen and as the name suggest supports 720p video recording for high definition playback.

The HTC Desire HD has now been released in the UK with many retailers adding this highly anticipated handset to their pre-order pages. Phones Limited have now received data feeds for comparison of mobile phone deals for the HTC Desire HD and are already comparing Vodafone deals.

There are more network releases expected over the coming days for the Desire HD with retailers confirming that it will be made available on O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Three Mobile.

The first set of deals added to Phones Limited show that the HTC Desire HD is available from free for as little as 30 per month line rental.

Of the two 30 tariffs available the Vodafone 300 + Unlimited + Internet is the better value offering 300 minutes to use to call at any time and to any network, unlimited SMS every month and bundled internet access which is important for a phone of this nature.

The HTC Desire HD is one of three brand new releases from the smartphone manufacturer. Released alongside the HTC Desire Z, a QWERTY smartphone, and a new and exclusive white HTC Desire model it looks set to turn many heads, and is already causing a stir in the gadget and mobile community thanks to its impressive spec list.

Rather than being an improvement on the original HTC Desire, this is a completely new handset. Offering an 8 megapixel camera, 1 GHz processor, Android 2.2 Froyo and a 4.3 inch S-LCD touchscreen, it is easy to see why this handset is widely expected to prove very popular.

In order to accommodate the large screen, the handset measures 123x 68x
11.8 mm, making it relatively slimline, and actually lightweight too, at 164 grams. The 4.3 inch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen utilises a pixel ration of 480x 800 to display up to 16M colors, with breathtaking clarity, detail and color rendering. The screen also features an accelerometer sensor for auto rotate of the UI, a proximity sensor, and a touch sensitive control panel.

The renowned HTC Sense UI makes another appearance on the HTC Desire HD. This highly customizable UI allows users to assign up to 7 fully customizable homescreen, which can be viewed in a thumbnail overview with a pinch of the screen.

1.5 GB of internal storage is provided as standard, with a 768 MB RAM. This is a generous level of internal storage; however the inclusion of a micro SD card slot allows users to gain up to 32GB of storage simply by installing a new memory card.

A fast internet surfing experience is provided via both HSDPA (at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps) in areas covered by 3G, and by Wi-Fi when local wireless networks are available, with the latter providing the faster connection.

Cellular networks are connected to via both GPRS and EDGE, whilst Bluetooth and micro USB connections allow users to connect to compatible hardware devices in order to carry out a range of different tasks.

An impressive 8 megapixel digital camera gives the HTC Desire HD a stake in the premium camera phone market as well. Packed with image manipulation features as well as software to simplify the task of taking them, the camera can also shoot video in 720p HD quality.

The high levels of customization of the new Android 2.2 Froyo combined with the powerful 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor gives an ideal platform for customization and expansion, especially when combined with access to the Android Market. This feature works in a similar way to the Apple AppStore, whereby users can browse and choose from thousands of apps to download, from many different categories.

Whatever you are looking for in a new smartphone, the HTC Desire HD is sure to provide it. Surfing the web, taking high quality images and video or simply messaging and social networking is a breeze thanks to the power and array of features found within the HTC Desire HD.
