Huawei Wins Six Awards at 2024 Lightwave Innovation Reviews

SHENZHEN - Huawei won six awards for innovations in the optical network domain from Lightwave, a media company specializing in optical networks. Huawei was recognized for its Huawei OptiX OSN 9800 & 1800 series products, 50G PON solution, DQ ODN solution, DC OptiX solution, and SE-OTN solution, according to the official website of Huawei.

Lightwave has presented the annual innovation awards for optical communications technologies at OFC (Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition) for many years. Judges include carrier executives, analysts, engineers, and university researchers, ensuring a comprehensive and rigorous evaluation process.

In the optical transmission field, the OptiX OSN 9800 and 1800 series are Huawei's flagship WDM products, and are applicable to E2E backbone, metro, and access WDM integrated transmission scenarios, such as high-speed interconnection between computing centers, home broadband, mobile transport, and enterprise and government private lines. Among Huawei's OptiX OSN 9800 & 1800 series products, the OSN 9800 M24 supports 400G/800G/1.2T per wavelength, Super C+L 12 THz, and 96T line capacity per fiber, meeting capacity requirements in the next decade. The OptiX OSN 1800 V Pro also extends all-optical switching from the core layer to the access layer, which enables 100G to sites and multi-service bearing, helping carriers reduce network construction costs by more than 30%.

In the optical access field, Huawei's 50G PON solution stands out for its symmetric bandwidth support, marking a significant industry milestone as the first commercial 50G PON solution. The solution's innovative optical modules, supporting three modes and boasting the industry's highest optical power budget of 32 dB, offer users a customizable evolution path for 10G services, optimizing total cost of ownership (TCO). Huawei’s DQ ODN solution features end--to end full pre-connection and innovative Fiber Iris technology. End-to-end pre-connection supports fast FTTH construction in both outdoor and indoor scenarios to improve deployment efficiency by 40%.

Meanwhile, Fiber Iris makes the ODN topology visible and manageable to achieve remote acceptance and fault location, greatly improving O&M efficiency.

For production network scenarios in industries such as electric power and transportation, Huawei's SE-OTN solution provides robust support for mainstream 100G bandwidth, with future evolution potential to 800G per wavelength. In addition, the solution also supports fgOTN/OSU technology (the fifth-generation native hard pipe technology), so different services can be carried on one network, achieving 100% physical isolation between services and zero crosstalk, achieving 99.9999% reliability. The solution has also eliminated the need for traditional OTN optical-layer systems and simplified the network architecture, streamlining network construction for small- and medium-sized sites with optimal TCO.

In the realm of data center interconnection, Huawei's DC OptiX solution delivers ultra-broadband, simplified, and intelligent all-optical interconnection between distributed data centers. With single-wavelength rates up to 1.2T and single-fiber capacity reaching 96T, the solution reduces per-bit costs while optimizing space utilization through the highly integrated optical-electrical design, which decreases required DC space by more than half. Moreover, the innovative SOCC protocol ensures zero financial transactions. The solution also supports one-click deployment within eight minutes and uses transient OTDR, same-cable detection and other innovative technologies to accurate and quick fault locating, which mean lower deployment and O&M costs.

Sean Buckley, editor-in-chief of Lightwave, extended his congratulations to Huawei on behalf of the media company. He highlighted the rigorous award review process, emphasizing Lightwave's commitment to recognizing the most innovative products, projects, technologies, and services with substantial industry impact. Looking ahead, Huawei remains dedicated to pushing the boundaries of optical transmission, access, and terminal fields, driving network evolution to F5.5G and accelerating enterprises' digital and intelligent transformation, thereby ushering in a powerful connection for the intelligent era.
