BEIRUT - Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global) inaugurated its booth at the 63rd edition of the Beirut Arab International Book Fair, organized by the Arab Cultural Club with the participation of a large number of companies and publishing houses.

TAG.Global’s booth displays the latest Talal Abu-Ghazaleh for Technology (TAGTech) products, including laptops, tablets, smartphones as well as technological accessories, in addition to its latest technical and scientific publications and dictionaries specialized in the intellectual property, accounting, and auditing fields.

The Book Fair was inaugurated by the Lebanese Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Arab Cultural Club, HE Dr. Najib Mikati, at the Seaside Arena Exhibition Hall at the Beirut Waterfront, where participants observed a minute of silence for the victims of the devastating Beirut port explosion in 2020. He, then, took a tour in the exhibition, accompanied by Lebanese former Prime Minister, Mr. Fuad Siniora, and Member of Lebanese Parliament Mr. Mohammed Al-Hajjar representing former Prime Minister, Mr. Saad Hariri, in addition to a host of diplomatic, religious, academic, educational and professional associations’ figures; as well as many owners of Lebanese, Arabic and foreign publishing houses.

During his tour at the Book Fair, Mikati visited TAG.Global’s booth and other publishing houses participating in the exhibition, where he was briefed on their contents which included the latest new book releases and publications.

In his address at the opening ceremony, the Prime Minister expressed the country’s determination to overcome all challenges and obstacles Lebanon is experiencing today.

“Our meeting today, at this particular place, conveys more than one message and meaning. Near this place was the last 2020 Beirut blast, which was added to the series of new and old disasters that destroyed our city, Beirut, but they were unable to kill its soul. If Beirut fell for a while, it would rise once again to become stronger and more determined by the will of all the Lebanese people, no matter how hard the conditions were,” Prime Minister Mikati stated, adding that: “Our meeting here today, at this particular place is nothing but a message of hope that Beirut will recover, and Lebanon will rise again with God’s permission.”

He further said that, “It is not new for Beirut to embrace the Arab book, as it was and still is the capital of the Arab culture, and the starting point of the intellectual revolutions in the Arab region. Well-known Arab poets wrote many poems in Beirut, and it was the destination of Arab intellects when they needed inspiration. By this cultural particularity we won, and the victory will be always our permanent ally in all areas. Our most important priority now is to help Lebanon overcome its crises.”

Prime Minister Mikati concluded by saying: “This Book Fair is one of many important stations in the course of protecting the Lebanese and Arab people from foreign influences that are different from our nature, culture, traditions and heritage, which we cherish.”

It is worth mentioning that the Book Fair is open to public starting March 3 -March 13, 2022, from 10 am to 5 pm.
