Nokia to Modernize Ucom's Mobile Network in Armenia for Future Transition to 5G

- Nokia extends partnership with Ucom to modernize its mobile network and introduce 5G-ready services
- Nokia will also upgrade Ucom’s core and IP infrastructure for a high-capacity, ultra high-speed and more reliable network
- As a result, Nokia will increase its share in Ucom’s network to around 70 percent.

ESPOO - Nokia has been selected by Ucom to upgrade its nationwide radio access network (RAN), improving performance and preparing for the future deployment of 5G services in Armenia. In addition, Nokia will upgrade Ucom's core and IP network infrastructure, enhancing the mobile user experience with faster data speeds and increased capacity. These initiatives will transform Ucom's networks, benefiting both consumer and enterprise customers, according to thr official website of Nokia.

As part of the deal, Nokia will supply equipment from its comprehensive 5G AirScale portfolio powered by its energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip technology. Ucom will also utilize Nokia’s intelligent MantaRay Networks Management system to enable a consolidated network view for improved network monitoring and management, with built-in AI functionalities.

Nokia will also provide solutions from its Cloud Packet Core portfolio, Cloud Operations Manager, Shared Data Layer and Subscriber Data Management, Policy Controller and Mediation for the mobile core network, and incorporate technologies such as Telephony Application Server, CFX-5000 and Session Border Controller for the voice core network. Nokia IP routers for access, aggregation, backhaul and core complete the solution.
