SHANGHAI - During HUAWEI CONNECT 2026, Huawei held an AI DC Innovation Summit themed "Leading AI DC Innovation, Shaping the Agentic World." Huawei, together with industry customers and partners, released the AI DC White Paper 2026, Technical Specification for Network High Availability of Financial Data Center, Enterprise AI Compute Operations Solution, Dongguan-Shenzhen AI Application Pilot Base Showcase, and Qingdao Port of Shandong Port Group National AI Application Pilot Base Showcase, aiming to shape the agentic world, according to the official website of Huawei.

Converged ICT Innovation to Build AI DC Infrastructure with Ultra-High Training and Inference Performance and Superior Token Efficiency

Michael Ma, Vice President of Huawei and President of ICT Product Portfolio Mgmt & Solution, delivered a keynote speech titled "Leading AI DC Innovation, Shaping the Agentic World." He noted that the agentic world is already here and Huawei has innovated in six areas to address challenges from AI DC reconstruction driven by AI computing workloads. "For AI computing, we have next-gen AI compute SuperPoDs and SuperClusters; for general-purpose computing and storage, we have Kunpeng SuperPoDs and high-performance AI storage; in edge deployment scenarios, we have the Light AI-Infra solution; when it comes to network and DC facilities, Huawei has introduced ultra-broadband, lossless Data Center Network (DCN) and Data Center Interconnect (DCI) solutions, along with 3D DCs." Ma also stressed that these innovations aim to help customers build AI DC infrastructure with ultra-high training and inference performance and superior token efficiency.

At the event, Huawei and China Construction Bank (CCB) jointly released the AI DC White Paper 2026.

Liu Xin, Vice President of Huawei's Computing Product Line, said that Huawei's Ascend and Kunpeng SuperPoDs, featuring vertical integration and horizontal openness, keep leading in system architecture innovations. "The Ascend 960 SuperPoD innovatively uses the Near-Packaged Optics (NPO) technology and can support up to 4,096 cards. Its Model FLOPS Utilization (MFU) is 1.1 times that of the prior generation in 10-trillion-parameter model training scenarios, along with 2.5-fold single-card throughput in inference scenarios." Liu added that Huawei has also upgraded its Kunpeng SuperPoD and now the product supports 128 CPUs per liquid-cooled cabinet, delivering higher performance and density.

Diego Xiao, Vice President of Huawei's Data Storage Product Line, said Huawei's data storage has been deployed in over 100 AI use cases across fields such as scientific research, autonomous driving, healthcare, and embodied AI. As AI evolves, Huawei is developing a series of AI data infrastructure through continual innovations, including AI data lake solutions, OceanStor A series AI semantic storage, and the OceanStor M900 context memory storage debuted during this HUAWEI CONNECT, to facilitate intelligent transformation across industries.

Zhang Bai, President of the Data Center Network Domain of Huawei's Data Communication Product Line, said that Huawei has upgraded its Stellar AI Data Center Network Solution, which offers a series of core capabilities, including the Rock-Solid Architecture 2.0, StarryWing Digital Map 2.0, Hyper Converged Fabric (HCF), and Network Packet Load Balancing (NPLB). NetMaster, Huawei's network agent has been upgraded, too. Zhang also covered the CloudEngine SF9000 series—Huawei's first globally launched UBG network switches, and the CloudEngine XH9000 series fully Huawei-developed NPO switches, both designed to create an efficient production network at AI compute centers for enterprises.

AI DCs Empower Industry Innovation and Accelerate Intelligent Upgrade in Finance, Education, and Scientific Research

Chang Dongdong, Deputy Director of CCB's Operations Data Center, shared that CCB has consolidated its AI foundation by deploying five DCs across four cities and partnered with Huawei to deploy AI DC infrastructure that supports both general-purpose and AI computing to enhance compute and token service capabilities. Additionally, by leveraging a financial-grade backbone network and multi-plane network, CCB has comprehensively improved the support and load capacity of its AI computing network. It has also created three intelligent hubs for O&M, business operations, and security and compliance, along with a full-link security system, powering the rapid incubation of intelligent scenarios.

Flora Ng, CIO and University Librarian at The University of Hong Kong (HKU), noted that HKU is dedicated to leading university transformation through AI adoption. HKU has pioneered Hong Kong's first curriculum planner agent, which is backed by Huawei semantic storage to deliver precise and personalized curriculum guidance to students. Moving forward, HKU will deepen its collaboration with Huawei to expand AI applications across teaching, research, admissions operations, and other scenarios.

Qi Fazhi, Director of the Computing Center at the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), said that the IHEP has deepened collaboration with Huawei and deployed Huawei's Stellar AI Ultra-Efficient Data Center Network Solution. Powered by the network scale load balancing algorithm, the solution boosts computing efficiency by over 10%, solving the industry-wide challenges of heavy AI training traffic and unbalanced network loads. This unleashes computing potential, ensuring the seamless flow of massive amounts of observational data, and empowering researchers to extract scientific discoveries from deep-space signals faster with greater precision.

Huawei and Industry Customers and Partners Jointly Released Multiple Milestones in AI DC Innovation

Huawei, an industry alliance, and other contributing organizations released the Technical Specification for Network High Availability of Financial Data Center, providing guidance for the financial industry in building DCNs tailored for the AI era.

China Unicom (Guangdong) Industrial Internet and Huawei jointly released the Dongguan-Shenzhen AI Application Pilot Base Showcase. This pilot base provides services for intelligent terminal manufacturers, bridging the gap from R&D to applications. Shandong Port Qingdao Port Group and Huawei jointly released the Qingdao Port of Shandong Port Group National AI Application Pilot Base Showcase, demonstrating how Qingdao Port has transformed its dry bulk terminal from manual to intelligent operations in scheduling, security, and maintenance.

Finally, iSoftStone and Huawei jointly launched the Enterprise AI Compute Operations Solution, which provides a stable, efficient, and on-demand computing foundation and Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) structure for large models.

Themed Advancing the Agentic World, HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 will delve into AI across three dimensions: strategy, technology, and ecosystems. You can expect an in-depth look at our latest strategic initiatives, and we'll also be unveiling our all-new digital and intelligent infrastructure products, scenario-specific solutions for industries, and development tools. The event will run from September 17 to 19 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center and Shanghai Expo Center.
